Why Are HDMI Cables So Expensive?

Why Are HDMI Cables So Expensive?

Hdmi

If you are in the market for a new high definition television you should keep in mind that you'll also need to pick up some HDMI cables in order to take full advantage of the superior picture quality. The HDMI cables will connect your TV to your cable box or satellite so you can receive the high definition signal. Unfortunately they don't come with the TV so you'll have to buy them separately.

Now if you've never purchased HDMI cables before you might be shocked when you see the sticker price at your local retailer. You can expect to pay anywhere from to 0 for premium HDMI cables at most electronics stores. But instead of paying these ridiculous prices, what you should do is go online and order the cables you need. I got mine on Amazon for 6 bucks.

That's not a typo. I paid six dollars.

Why are HDMI cables so expensive if you buy them at the store?

Because retailers know that when you buy a brand new high definition television you won't be able to wait for cables to come separately. You'll want to run home and set everything up right away so you can check out the clarity on your new screen. Plus they know that the average guy off the street won't know any better, so they figure they can push you into purchasing an enormously profitable add-on.

In other words, they're taking advantage of you. Don't fall for it. Order your cables ahead of time or just wait the extra day or two and you'll save yourself a bundle.

The Best Information on HDMI and DVI Cables

The Best Information on HDMI and DVI Cables

Hdmi

With the advancement of so many electronical devices in the last decade, the need for proper cables has arose. There are countless cables out on the open market today designed for different features and different settings to enhance someone´s electronics experience. A couple of high demand cables include the HDMI cable and the DVI cable. These two cables are pretty similar but have a few key differences.

First lets talk about the DVI cable which stands for digital visual interface. It was released in 1999 primarily for carrying uncompressed digital video data to a display. Back then it was pretty much used for computer monitors but now they are highly used for television sets. This part may get a bit confusing because there are three main connection types for DVI. They include the DVI-D which is digital only, the DVI-A which is analog only, and the DVI-I which is both digital and analog. So before selecting the best DVI cable for you, make sure you know which one you are getting.

The other cable I want to talk about is the HDMI which stands for high definition multimedia interface. This cable was introduced in 2002 and is an all digital´video interface capable of transmitting uncompressed streams of data. It is very similar to the DVI except the HDMI has the ability to also carry audio and video signals. The two cables do basically the same things, but the HDMI is a little better because it is a bit newer and can do a couple more features than the DVI cable.

Whatever cable you choose, make sure you get one that is compatible with whatever you are trying to connect it with. There are a number of cables that do different things and can affect your electronic device in different ways, so do as much research as possible before making your purchase.

HDMI DVD Upconverting Players And Other SD To HD Solutions

HDMI DVD Upconverting Players And Other SD To HD Solutions

Hdmi

HDMI stands for High Definition Multimedia Interface. An HDMI player is a DVD player that uses HDMI technology to carry a digital signal (for both audio and video) to a TV - all in one cable. It has much more bandwidth than its predecessor, DVI (Digital Video Interface). Thankfully, HDMI is backward compatible with DVI. Overall, it performs much better than DVI or the archaic - but surviving - component video. The big benefit of HDMI DVD players is that it is a practical solution to a big problem. How does a person watch SD (standard definition, or standard def) DVDs on a high definition television? More importantly, how does a person do this and not buy a Blu-ray player and replace a whole library of DVDs with Blu-ray discs? Some people have very large libraries of DVDs - from movies like Iron Man to home videos of birthdays and holidays that were transferred from VHS to DVD. The DVD VHS transfers in themselves would be expensive to replace because one would have to go back to the original analog source or the high resolution digital files (if any were made) and have them now transferred to Blu-ray. The HDMI player is a perfect solution to this potential catastrophe.

With an HDMI player you are able to watch any standard definition DVD on your high definition TV - in high definition! It does this by scaling up the resolution and then deinterlacing the video so it does not look like a bunch of pixels jumping all over the place. Depending on the size of the screen, the converted video can actually look so close to HD that many people can not tell the difference.

The HDMI player is very economical compared to some of the alternatives. It is possible to get a really good Samsung HDMI player for somewhere between and 0. Suppose you want something better? There are some more expensive alternative HDMI players on the market. For example, there is Oppo Digital with its line of high end upconverting HDMI DVD players. Some of Oppo Digital's HDMI players cost up to 00. That's expensive but still less expensive than buying a Blu-ray player and replacing a large movie library of DVD discs.

Well, you could bite the bullet and go Blu-ray. Of course, this would be the most expensive solution to your problem. You would then have to replace all of those DVD discs with Blu-ray discs as they become available (not all Hollywood movies are on Blu-ray). And you will need to transfer all of your home movies and videos again - this time to Blu-ray. To do this you'll have to decide whether to buy a Blu-ray burner yourself or pay someone to do the transfer of the home videos to Blu-ray for you. This will be even trickier than DVD VHS transfers.

Another solution is the external video processor. You'll need a good standard def DVD player to start. Then you will need an external video processor (also called a 'scaler') to run the video signal from the standard def DVD player through the external video processor and then to the HD television. These external video processors could cost you a few thousand dollars. So it is kind of in between going Blu-ray and buying a high end HDMI upconverter if you add up all the expense of replacing DVD discs with Blu-ray discs.

If all of these scenarios seem too expensive or impractical, then try this one last suggestion. It may or may not work. You will need to check your settings on your standard def DVD player to see if this is even possible with your brand and model. See if you can change the settings on the standard def DVD player from 480i (interlaced scan) to 480p (progressive scan). This might give your new HD TV something more to work with. HD TVs come with upconverting and deinterlacing technology as well. Many of the better HD televisions can usually do pretty well at scaling 480p to 1080p. Although HD TVs can do this, most HDMI players do it much, much better than the HD TVs. The problem HD TVs have is usually with deinterlacing. But if your standard definition can be set to deinterlace the video before sending it to the HD TV, then the HD TV may be able to do the rest that is needed to give you a decent picture.

Well, this was a lot of information and some of it was very technical. Hopefully, one of these solutions above will give you what you need to set up a successful HD theater in your home.

PS3 HDMI Cable Review

PS3 HDMI Cable Review

Hdmi

It's really kind of hard to describe how much a cable can make a difference. I wanted to buy a HDMI cable and wasn't sure to go for the cables or 0 cables for a long time and chose to take bit of a gamble by buying this one for the following reasons:

* Its a reasonable price considering.
* Looking at it you can see why it might hold this price.
* It would be crazy for Sony to sell a product as intense as the PS3 and then disgrace it with poor quality cables. Cables are also made by Sony.
* I did a bit of research and seen a lot of positive reviews You will need a HD TV for best results, but you will definitely need a TV with a HDMI connector to use the cable

What do I get?
Extremely high cable quality plus a set of extra long cables. The Cable jacket is a flexible cloth like material which makes the cable look like it will last forever. Both ends fit well into my HDMI connections and are meant to be gold plated. Really all I care about is that the picture is wonderfully clear. I know I know as long as you're getting a good quality HDMI cable it doesn't really matter what you get. This is far from an overpriced cable. I also found another use for the short USB cable that comes with the PS3, I have my PS2 memory adapter hooked up to it.

Cheap Used LCD Monitors - Shopping Tips

Cheap Used LCD Monitors - Shopping Tips

Hdmi

Although a computer monitor is used as output display for our computer, it has several features which are often overlooked by us. And while shopping for LCD computer screens, especially recycled LCD monitors, we will get ripped off if we are not careful.

Why do people shop for recycled LCD monitors when there are brand new PC monitors? This is because second hand LCD monitors can be half or even a quarter of the original price, which is extremely cheap. While shopping for used LCD computer monitors, here are some shopping tips that you need to be aware of.

Length of Usage of used LCD Monitors

Always check with the seller about the usage length of the monitor. Ask him questions such as the daily usage of the LCD. Although there is a chance that the seller will lie about the usage length, use his answers as a rough guide. If possible, ensure that there is still manufacturer's warranty on the computer monitor. At least you are able to send the computer monitor for free servicing should it becomes faulty after you used it.

The more hours the screen is used daily, the lower the price. However, if warranty is till in effect, that will boost the price of the monitor.

Size of LCD Monitors

This is probably the most important question which decides the price of the used LCD computer monitor. Typically, the standard size that most people are looking for are 17 inch to 22 inch.Any size bigger than 22″ will be uncomfortable to view in close proximity.

The norm is that the bigger the computer screen, the higher the cost of owning one. However, the features listed below, does affect the price of the LCD screens.

Computer Ports Connection

Before deciding on a purchase of the monitor, check if the type of video connection that the computer LCD is about to support. The typical video connections are VGA (Video Graphics Array), DVI (Digital Visual Interface) and HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface)

The image quality, from the highest to the lowest is, HDMI, DVI and lastly VGA. HDMI connection ensures that your LCD is displaying the best possible display image from your computer.

However, this does not imply that a VGA connection will give poor video quality from the PC. If you are using the PC for light gaming and office work, VGA is ample for your display needs. However if you are an extreme gamer or using your PC to watch blu-ray movies, ensure that your LCD monitor have DVI or HDMI connection to ensure that you have the best visual experience.

However, ensure that your PC's video card has HDMI connection before buying a used LCD monitor with only HDMI connection. The price of a recycled computer screen is cheaper if it has only VGA connectors, with the add-on of DVI or HDMI, the price will increase.

Brands of LCD Monitors

The brand of the computer screens affect the pricing. A well known brand will have a premium tag attached to their stuffs. And this applies to second hand stuffs as well. A Sony LCD brand monitor will always cost more than brand XYZ's monitor. Hence, to save on costs, shop for cheaper brands. Although you will feel more assure while using a Sony LCD monitor, it will not save your pocket.

Physical Condition of the used computer monitor

Another way to price a recycled LCD computer screen is the physical conditions of the LCD monitor. Usually, if the owner is careful enough, the LCD screen will not have any physical defects as it is usually left on the computer table. Physical defects such as cracks or scars, scratches which exists on the monitor itself will greatly affect the price. This is because we do not know what causes this accidents and physical damages could affect the working performance of the used computer LCD screen.

The last cheap used LCD monitors shopping tips is to request for a personal warranty from the seller before buying. This is to ensure that the used LCD monitors you purchase is in working condition after buying. the warranty usually ranges from 3 days to a week.

What Does HDMI Mean and Is It Important To Me?

What Does HDMI Mean and Is It Important To Me?

Hdmi

You may have heard or seen the terms HDMI, HDMI receiver and HDMI cables, but you may not know what HDMI means or what it is for. Here is some information to help you understand what HDMI is and if you think you may need HDMI cables or receivers.

The abbreviation HDMI stands for High-Definition Multimedia Interface. This term of course only applies to HD TVs and is not interchangeable with other standard televisions. An HDMI receiver is a catch-all device to hook up your media devices such as gaming platforms, dvd players and surround sound speakers. Because many HD TVs only have one to two HDMI plug ports, you will only be able to plug in one to two of your electronic devices directly into the TV.

This is a hassle because if you have surround sound stereo speakers hooked up to your TV, you won't want to unplug these every time you want to hook up another device, so one port will always be in use. Likewise, it is a hassle to unplug and switch cables from your cable box to your xbox or dvd player whenever you want to use one instead of the other. Enter the HDMI receiver. Many receivers have three or more ports to plug in audio/video inputs and outputs so you can maximize your home theater system. The HDMI receiver will manage all of your devices in one and send all of the information to your television through an HDMI cable.

An HDMI cable is a "superwire" of sorts. These cables can transfer all sorts of information through one cable instead of several. Think of the cables you are used to using with non HD TVs: the wires with the red, white and yellow connectors, each for either audio or visual input or output. HDMI cables bring all of these into one simplified cable that takes up only one plug port on your television instead of three.

HDMI technology really streamlines your devices and can improve your home viewing experience with the latest technology. And, like with many other technological devices, what you pay for is what you might get with many HDMI receivers or cables. A less expensive HDMI receiver may have 3 plug ports while a more expensive counterpart may have up to 7. As with any larger purchase, doing some research on the internet for different brands and types of HDMI receivers - as well as the cables - may save you time and money. Before purchasing a product that may have a history of technical issues or is not worth the money spent, read consumer reviews posted on internet websites of companies selling the brand you are interested in. Check out other consumer tech review websites to find out the most recommended type of HDMI receivers and cables which will suit your budget and your home theater setup needs.

Check all of your devices to make sure they are compatible with HDMI receivers. Some gaming systems are not HDMI ready. You may only have two devices - a cable box and one gaming platform - that you use most often and will plug right into your TV. In this case, you may not need to purchase an HDMI receiver until you add more devices.

Blu-Ray Reviews Of The Sony BDP-S300 Multi-Region Blu-Ray Disc Player

Blu-Ray Reviews Of The Sony BDP-S300 Multi-Region Blu-Ray Disc Player

Hdmi

Blu-Ray Disc Player: Excellent picture quality on Blu-ray and DVD; DVD upconversion up to 1080p; HDMI output. Right off the bat everyone in the room noticed the image quality from the Blu-Ray Disc Player S300, it's always comforting when the results right out of the box are at least on par with expectations, surpassing them is of course a nice bonus.

The SONY BDP-S300 Blu-Ray Disc Player is an important product, giving Blu-ray some much needed traction in the affordable player category. Combine that with recent news from rental powerhouse Blockbuster that it is expanding Blu-ray titles in its stores (at the expense of HD DVD in most cases), and the BDP-S300 looks like a no-brainer.

HQV Benchmark Results: The BDP-S300 Blu-Ray Disc Player scored very well with the standard definition HQV benchmark disc, it passed most of the tests with flying colors and was able to lock onto the 3:2 film cadence test faster than many other of the DVD and BD/HD players tested recently.

o Color Bar/Vertical Detail: Pass - Score 10 of 10

o Mixed 3:2 Film, Horizontal Text Crawl: Pass - Score 10 of 10

o Mixed 3:2 Film, Vertical Text Crawl: Pass - Score 10 of 10

o Total Score: 128 out of a possible 130.

And the remote is a good one- it controls both the player and a television.
Unlike Sony's first-gen BDP-S1 (and Pioneer Elite's BDP-HD1) the BDP-S300 will play back CDs, either from its analog audio outputs or any of its digital audio outputs, including HDMI.

Once loaded and running, the BDP-S300 performed like a gold medalist. The best Blu-ray Discs looked sensational at either 1080p/60 or 1080p/24. And for those using 720p displays, or displays that will not accept 1080p inputs, the player also performed beautifully when set for either a 720p or 1080i output.
The Sony BDP-S300 Multi-Region Blu-Ray is a sure winner
The Sony BDP-S300 Blu-ray player is a good one, with superb playback quality from Blu-ray Discs, and solid upconversion of standard definition DVDs for your legacy collection.

Description: Everyone will marvel at the stunning sound and picture quality of this second-generation Blu-ray Disc player. With remarkable features and versatile performance, the BDP-S300 is an amazing value.

BDP-S300 Strengths: Picture Quality

Strengths: Great picture and excellent sound

Weaknesses: None for me

Summary: I bought this Blu-Ray player last July to watch movies and it has worked flawlessly for me from day 1. I am not a viewer who will use picture in picture (which this does not have) nor do I play any of the games which are on some of the discs. I wanted a Blu-Ray player which gives me full HD video and great sound. The audio sounds great on my surround sound system when I use it. Sometimes I just use the TV speakers and the audio is excellent. If you are interested in a Blu-Ray player with outstanding video and excellent sound this player is for you.

Strengths: Plays Blu-Ray Discs, upconverts standard DVDs. Full 1080p output. Good array of audio outputs.

Strengths: Great picture when playing Blu ray Disk. Connected all audio connections at once except Coax, and all worked automatically...Great sound.

While the Sony BDP-S300 is an entry level Blu-ray player, entry level doesn't necessarily mean cheap. You're getting a capable high definition video player. VD's is lackluster at best and it only decodes Dolby Digital Plus. If you already have a capable upconverting DVD player and don't care about the decoding of Dolby TrueHD and the myriad of high definition DTS formats, this may be the Blu-ray player for you.

Summary: Sony has finally come out their second generation Blu-ray player at half the original price of the original! The BDP-S300 looks like a bargain compared to their previous BDP-S1 model.

Besides the cost benefit, you get more with this player. Unlike the previous model the S300 can play CDs in addition to DVDs. In addition, it seems to load slightly faster than the previous model.

All in all, the BDP-S300 delivers what it promises.

The new BDP-S300 model can output 1920 x 1080p (progressive) high-definition video, currently the highest resolution high-definition signal available through an HDMI(TM) connection. The player supports various video formats, including MPEG2, MPEG4-AVC and VC1.

For those who own an HDTV set without HDMI, an analog component output for 1080i (interlaced) is available as well.

The new BD player is compatible with most standard DVDs and has the added feature of 1080p upscaling through HDMI to 1080p capable HDTVs, improving the picture performance of existing DVD libraries.

Watching PIRATES I and PIRATES II I found the picture striking and vivid with no artifacts. My receiver is a delivers 5.1 DD so I am unable to take advantage of the uncompressed PCM codec. However, the Dolby digital audio track was quite impressive. All things considered, this an excellent player at a very good price.

This is an excellent BD Player for under 0! The picture quality is awesome!
Excellent upscaler quality for DVD movies

Below is mentioned that it can't be made region free. Only partially true. A California company already sells this model in a Multiregion (multi-region) version. It can play any Region A and B Blu-Ray Disc movie and display it on any TV that has HDMI input, regardless of video standard (PAL-SECAM-NTSC etc.)

This is a unit that we would buy for ourselves if it weren't for the fact that we couldn't make it region free, because we have a huge DVD collection with movies from regions 1 and 4. If you are going to play only region-free ("region 0") or region 1 discs then this unit is a great pick, especially because its cost/benefit ratio: great price and excellent image quality for DVDs - if the relative slowness of this unit doesn't bother you.

I haven't gone through all the bells and whistles yet, but the picture quality just floored me. Even my wife who really doesn't get the whole 'high def thing' was greatly impressed. We watched Pirates/Caribbean 2 and couldn't believe the quality.

Pros: Excellent picture quality, inexpensive for a Blu-ray player, offers HDMI upscaling to 1080p

Anyone looking to experience the formidable pleasures of watching movies on Blu-ray Disc, and at a reasonable startup cost, is advised to check out Sony's BDP-S300.

This is a magnificent Blu-ray DVD player. It enhances regular DVD viewing and presents Blu-ray discs in full 1080p (if you have a 1080p HDTV).

The video and sound quality is amazing!

Very good product for the money. Well worth getting if you want to get the best picture from your large widescreen HDTV.

"I have owned this Blu-ray player about 2 weeks. I purchased my first Blu-ray movie this past weekend and I was blown away by the full 1080p picture that it produces and the full digital sound is awesome. Be sure to purchase an hdmi cable for this player and you will not be disappointed. It will also upconvert standard DVD's to near HD quality."

Have this unit for a week and love it. Bought it for my husband from appliance bestbuys the price was great the units great and I would definitely tell everyone to buy this one if they want a good Blu ray without emptying their wallets.

Understanding HDMI

Understanding HDMI

Hdmi

The HDMI standard was created by many of the leading manufacturers, these include: Panasonic, Hitachi, Philips, Sony, Thomson (RCA), Silicon Image and Toshiba. HDMI is not just a used in video transfer, it also has embedded multi-channel audio support.
A lot of people out there find all these new "options" that have come with HD technology very confusing (i.e. Deep colour and DVD audio). So below is a brief guide to some of the options that are available below.

Deep colour: This in simple terms allows you HD television to go from a display using millions of colours to a display of billions of colours. It also increases the contrast ratio, therefore allowing more grey shades between white and black. Colour banding lines are completely eliminated and this gives the viewer unrivalled colour accuracy and vividness due to the smooth transitions and grading between colour and tone.

How much better is 1080p than 720p: In purely technical terms it's 225%. The sound quality is also improved by a further 50% with the new totally lossless, bit-for-bit Dolby True HD and DTS Master HD multi channel audio content.

xvYCC / xv Colour: This is a new standard brought in with HDMI 1.3 (IEC 61966-2-4, more commonly known as xvYCC, the shorthand term for "Extended YCC Colorimetry for Video Applications". This standard has the brand name "x.v.Colour"). This new standard has 1.8 times more display colours than the previous standard, enabling a more pleasurable viewing experience.

DVD audio: This digital format allows a range of audio channels from single through 5.1 channel surround sound. The audio quality of a DVD Audio disc can be substantially higher than a standard audio CD. DVD Audio supports bit depths up to 24-bit and sample rates up to 192 kHz, CD audio can only reach 16-bit and 44.1 kHz.

Cabling has always been an issue with recent electronic advances, for example you need this type of cable and can't go over a certain length, etc, etc. HDMI technology has been designed to use a standard copper cable construction. In order to allow cable manufacturers to improve their products through the use of new and emerging technologies, the HDMI standard specifies the required performance of a cable but does not specify a maximum cable length. Cables are now available in lengths of up to 15 meters.

In summary; HDMI digital interconnectivity provides a superior, uncompressed digital video and audio quality. A popular interface enabling the transmission of high definition data and various content, with a simple, user friendly connector that replaces the maze of cabling behind you television.

HDMI Splitter - Low Cost Solution For HDMI Transmission

HDMI Splitter - Low Cost Solution For HDMI Transmission

Hdmi

The HDMI Splitter is a compact audio/video connector interface which helps in transmitting uncompressed digital streams. These splitters duplicate and split the HDMI signals from the source and display it on two or more HDMI display devices. Available in 2, 4 or 8 port configurations, these splitter units can be cascaded in case of larger applications. They are also available in 2x2 and 4x4 matrix formats which are a combination of a splitter and a switch and provide remote access and control via TCP/IP. This device also makes use of a single cable to simultaneously relay video and audio signals, thereby saving space and reducing clutter.

Since HDMI is the latest technology in the market, these splitters are being increasingly demanded. Not only do they support the latest technology but this category of the video splitter also has other benefits. Amongst its key benefits is the fact that the signals relayed need to be converted from digital to analog and back. They can be relayed as is. Supporting HD resolutions of 720i, 720p & 1080p, they are equipped with an in built signal booster which provides uncompromised picture and sound quality. Since these splitters are HDCP compliant, they ensure that the intellectual property rights of content providers are not violated. Devices which have HDMI outputs such as set top boxes, DVD players, D-VHS players can work with these splitter units.

Like it's counterparts, the HDMI Video Splitter is also compact in size, requires no software/drivers for installation and works on using plug and play functionality. Infra Red remote or the front-panel manual control buttons are used to switch control. Input selection is depicted by the front-panel LED's. FCC CE and RoHS certified, this system works with both DVI and HDMI inputs since HDMI is backward compatible with DVI. It provides a video amplifier bandwidth up to 2.25Gpbs/225MHz. More advanced versions of this splitting unit provide more synchronized in/out ports, high compatibility and high reliability.

Perfect for applications, where the same information is displayed on many high quality HDMI devices, the HDMI Splitter is used in classrooms, conference rooms, remote monitoring and training facilities and home theaters.

The Right Way to Set Up Your New Blu-ray Player

The Right Way to Set Up Your New Blu-ray Player

Hdmi

After having just gotten your new Blu-ray DVD Player, you will obviously be excited about testing it out. No doubt you will be anxious to see the glorious 1080p picture and High Definition sound quality. So the question is this: how to set up your new Blu-ray player to get the highest possible performance from it? Will it be as simple as connecting your DVD player? Will it be a breeze?

Not exactly!

When setting up your new Blu-ray player you have to keep in mind, this is a rather new technology, therefore over the past few years TVs and AV receivers have been adapting to conform to this new format. Unfortunately, you may discover not all of them can support every new feature of your Blu-ray player. This may make the process a little more difficult than setting up your standard DVD player. So I have outlined a few procedures and possible difficulties you might come across so that you can more easily incorporate your new Blu-ray player into your home entertainment system, hopefully without too much frustration.

Basically to get the best performance out of your Blu-ray player you need to understand three features: Picture, Sound, and Internet Connectivity. You will discover all three can be easily done with some simple cable connections; no fine-tuning necessary, just some simple modifications to the set-up menus maybe all that is required. Hopefully this advice will cut out any confusion and the whole process will go very smoothly for you.

Picture

1080p High Definition picture quality - this is why most people purchase their first Blu-ray Player and it is the best feature of any Blu-ray player. Blu-ray movies are stored on a disc in 1080p at 24 frames-per-second so you often see this referred to as 1080/24p. The director filmed the movie at this rate, so Blu-ray discs allow you to view the movie as it was originally meant to be seen. Blu-ray players allow you to watch these HD movies by connecting it's HDMI output to the duplicate input on your TV, so a HDMI cable will need to be purchased if one is not included with the Blu-ray player. In most cases a HDMI is not provided. HDMI cables can run anywhere from to 0. (Some argue there is no difference in HDMI cables, no matter what the cost.)

Not all Blu-ray players are capable of this 1080/24p output rate. These players will be older, and instead of the 1080/24p output rate they convert the signal to 1080/60p using a method called "3:2 pulldown' technique. What this simply means is one frame is played three times and the next frame is played twice and so forth. This results in one frame being shown on the TV screen slightly longer than the other. This produces judder into the picture, a slight moving or shaking of the picture.

To avoid this problem, a simple solution would be to purchase a newer model Blu-ray player. Most of the latest models can output 1080p pictures at 24 frames-per-second via HDMI. Also, your TV set must be able to support it. If it does not, then if you feed a signal of 1080/24p into a TV which can not support it, the TV will convert the signal to 50 or even 60HZ. This will also place judder into the picture.

What this all comes down to is to get the best, purest and most genuine High Definition picture possible, you require a Blu-ray Player capable of a 1080/24p output signal (this is easily selected on the set-up menu) and a TV capable of supporting this signal. Most of the newer LCD and Plasma televisions will give you the right support you need. LCD sets usually have a 120Hz mode, where each of the 24 frames is repeated five times and shown on the screen for the same amount of time, producing no juddering. Plasma usually has 72Hz 3:3 pulldown mode and they can use this because they do not have as much slowdown as the LCD.

Sound

The second feature most people purchase the Blu-ray for is the perfect sound quality. Blu-ray has the superior 'lossless' Dolby True HD and DTS HD Master Audio. What you get with these audio formats is 100 percent identical to the original studio master track. This is a clear advantage over DVDs which use Dolby Digital and DTS, but again as with the picture signal, not all AV receivers are capable of decoding the newer High Definition formats.

Set up is fairly easy if your receiver can decode the formats because both HD formats can be used via the Blu-ray player's HDMI output port and the HDMI input port on the receiver. This allows a bitstream (meaning raw digital data) to be transferred to your AV receiver where it is decoded into multichannel sound. All you need to do is set your Blu-ray player's HDMI output to bitstream or primary. The HDMI ports on these devices must be specified as version 1.3/1.3a/1.3b. These are the only versions that allow for the transmitting of Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Audio. You will also need a Second HDMI Cable to connect the AV receiver's HDMI output to your TV's HDMI input. The AV receiver will decode the audio and transmit the 1080/24p video signal.

Things can get a little trickier if your AV receiver does not decode the HD audio formats. However, it does not mean you can not still enjoy the great high quality sound. One option available to you is to set up your Blu-ray player to internally decode the audio and convert it to LPCM (an uncompressed form of audio). This option is located in the set-up menu and found on almost every Blu-ray player. LCPM can be transferred over any version of HDMI and it preserves the high multichannel sound quality of both Dolby True HD and DTS HD. This way your receiver does not have to do any decoding. (Take note that some lesser Blu-ray players will only convert 5.1 Dolby Digital or DTS into LPCM.)

This LCPM option assumes your AV receiver has HDMI inputs. If it does not have these HDMI inputs, then your best option is to look for Blu-ray Players that can decode the HD sound formats into high quality analogue and output them from multichannel outputs. Using optical or coaxial outputs which are usually found on most players can not be used because the do not have the sufficient bandwidth capabilities to transmit Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Audio.

Internet Connectivity

Most newer Blu-ray players have a feature called BD Live which allows you to download content from the internet, play games online and participate in web chats. To use this feature you need a Blu-ray player with a Profile 2.0 since these Blu-ray players have an Ethernet port you can use to connect to an internet router or computer. (Profile 1.1 may have an Ethernet port but WILL NOT SUPPORT BD LIVE.)

Also, you may need a USB flash memory drive or SD card to plug into your Blu-ray player. This provides digital storage for updates and extra data. It's recommended that the drive or card be at least 1 GB. Other than the Playstation 3, no other Blu-ray players on the market have internal memory built-in, but some newer Blu-ray players are now unveiling Wi-Fi, eliminating the need for external storage.

Conclusion

Hopefully, by checking all three factors discussed above - Picture, Sound, and Internet Connectivity - will make setting up your new Blu-ray player a lot easier. Just follow all the steps and you will get the best picture and sound quality that only a Blu-ray system can deliver. Happy viewing!

Final Fantasy XIII - Cie'th Mission 55 (Growth Egg)

Final Fantasy XIII - Cie'th Mission 55 (Growth Egg) Video Clips.

Final Fantasy XIII (PS3 English Version) Cie'th Mission 55 Reward: Growth Egg Subsequent Rewards: Moonblossom Seed x2 I apologize for the quality. I have no idea how to record on HDMI, and I doubt I have the money to buy the equipment to do so. Requirements: Acquired Chocobo Mounts (Mission 14) and defeated Chapter 11 Boss (Barthandelus) Cie'th Stone Location: Oerba Mark Location: (Neochu) The Archylte Steppe Low Levels: Need luck. Hard/Impossible to recover from it's cursed scream at a low "level." Exploit of Vanille's ability Death makes things easier (if you're lucky), especially when you're low level and you want to get the Growth Egg (2x Crystarium Points) to level quicker. Vanille, obviously, equipped with Belladonna Wand, needs to be the leader of the party, and while I preferred Fang, any Sentinel to draw away attacks would do, but make sure to have a 10k+ (for low levels) with many protective buffs to survive the deadly onions. A good healer/synergist with fairly high magic and decent health (again, for low levels) also is recommended, especially if he/she gets targeted/slaughtered at the very beginning. Spam death with a little luck and voila, Growth Egg and the easier grinding begins. Oh, and also, don't underestimate the little onions. If you're too low to survive it's bloodcurdling scream, you'll probably want to be safe and take them out one by one with Vanille while the sentinel and healer does their job. I can only assume higher levels can handle this ...

Computer Monitors - Using HDMI With Your Monitor

Computer Monitors - Using HDMI With Your Monitor

Hdmi

With the growing popularity of high definition television, card manufacturers have responded quickly to the demand for HD including dual DVI output, to support more than one ad. DVI stands for Digital Visual Interface is recommended to use another cable to connect the graphics card on the big screen, but it depends on what inputs your TV can accept.

HDMI is really the best way to connect a PC to an HDTV. DVI also supports HDCP required to viewthis type of protected video content. DVI cable, you get a pure digital signal, and a much sharper at higher resolutions. You do not need, with HDMI, disturb unless you plan on Blu-ray movies are shown.

HDMI is the most innovative and technologically more advanced equipment and the connection monitor. As long as you have a HDMI port, which will work fine as any normal monitor. HDMI is the same pin-out DVI and audio, to operate as a normalDigital display.

Using HDMI will give you the best quality by far. Select HDMI input source to the screen, check the specifications of the graphics card supports the types and numbers of displays connected. You get a better signal with a digital cable such as HDMI and VGA is analog.

If you have an HDTV, then it is best to connect via a VGA cable, because there are much better quality S-Video and as with S-Video. You can also scanConverter box, which takes a VGA signal and converts it to S-video or component video.
